Sprint Service Plan For Samsung Gear S Leaked

There were rumors a few months back that Samsung will be releasing a smartwatch with standalone 3G capability and it did. The Samsung Gear S is now official and we found it to be a good wearable device in our review. Last month Samsung also revealed when the Gear S will make its way to the U.S. The smartwatch will be available from all four carriers and if a new report is to be believed, Sprint may even offer a wireless service plan just for the Gear S.

Phandroid reports, citing sources close to the matter, that Sprint will offer a separate plan for the Samsung Gear S smartwatch. It is not know for sure right now if other carriers will go down the same route when this device is launched.

According to the internal memo obtained by the scribe a standalone connected device plan will cost $9.99 per month and will include 1000 minutes, 1000 text messages and 100MB of data. Voice and data roaming is included in this price.

Subscribers may be able to add the device to the Family Share plan by paying a $10 add-on which will get them unlimited talk and text as well as shared data allotment with other devices that are already on the plan.

The leaked document does point out that when Gear S is connected to a smartphone through Bluetooth any text, minute and data usage won’t count towards the smartwatch’s plan but go through the smartphone’s plan.

Sprint has so far not confirmed anything about a separate service plan for the Samsung Gear S.
