Prior to this, Sony’s estimates were set at 43 million smartphones being sold which was already a revision of the 50 million goal they had initially set. However according to the report from The Wall Street Journal, those numbers are expected to be slashed yet again, although they did not mention as to by how much.
Sony is expected to announce their quarterly figures come 31st of October so perhaps we will learn more about it then, but in the meantime it certainly doesn’t sound like things are going well for the company. We had heard that Sony was planning on focusing their efforts on high-end handsets, although recently announced devices like the Sony Xperia E3 seems to suggest otherwise.
In any case we won’t start getting all doom and gloom on Sony just yet. They are a pretty huge company after all, but do check back with us at the end of the month for the details.
