Samsung Teams Up With Barnes & Noble For Another Tablet

Barnes & Noble may not have developed a tablet of its own for quite some time now but its relationship with Samsung seems to be flourishing quite nicely. Both companies have already released one Nook-branded tablet and today they’re out with another one: the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1. As you would expect the hardware end is all Samsung while the tablet comes with some software tweaks courtesy of Barnes & Noble.

Samsung’s collaboration with Barnes & Noble started with the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. This tablet is more or less the same device with a larger display. Even though its a 10.1-inch display the resolution remains at 1,280×800 pixels and even the 1.2GHz quadcore processor coupled with 1.5GB RAM is the same package as the 7-inch tablet.

Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 10.1 also comes with a 3 megapixel rear camera and a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera. Memory can be expanded up to 64GB using microSD cards. At launch the tablet is priced at $299 but from November 1st it will cost $349.

As far as the software tweaks from B&N are concerned they’re mostly geared towards folks who like reading content like books and magazines, so its like having the best of both worlds, a standalone tablet with e-reader like functionality.
