Back in September, Samsung took the wraps off the Gear VR which is Samsung’s attempt at creating a wearable headset that could potentially compete against the likes of the Oculus Rift or Sony’s Project Morpheus. Now if the rumors are to be believed, Samsung could be looking at a possible release on the 1st of December, but it seems that in the meantime there are some issues that Samsung needs to iron out first.
According to a report from Asia Today (via Pocketnow), it seems that there are some who are reporting that the Gear VR overheats a little too easily. In fact there are claims that the Gear VR is overheating only after 25 minutes of use which is admittedly a rather short period of time for it to start getting hot.
Given that this is a device that you will be strapping to your face, we’re sure there are many out there who might not be too happy about the implications of an overheating device. However considering that the Gear VR is not available to the public yet, chances are these are prototype units that are overheating, although it does point at a problem that Samsung might need to address.
Assuming that the 1st December launch is accurate, this gives Samsung a little over a month to get things fixed, and hopefully by then this overheating issue would have been solved.
