galaxy-note-4-review-13

It had come to our knowledge a couple of weeks back that Samsung will soon be offering a developer edition variant of its latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 4. Starting today the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 developer edition is in stock and it can be purchased for $700. It was initially believed that Samsung and Verizon were teaming up to offer the device at a subsidized cost but now it is known for sure that this is not happening, anyone who wants to pick up a developer edition unit will have to shell out the entire $700 cost.

So what does a developer edition model get you? It has exactly the same internals as any other Galaxy Note 4 variant available in the market with one major exception, the bootloader is unlocked. This means that it will be relatively easy to tinker around with advanced system settings on this device and even be able to flash custom software, which would otherwise not be possible or not be too easy on other variants.

Since Verizon is a partner in this endeavor, the developer edition of Galaxy Note 4 will come with bloatware from the carrier but that can be easily removed if you know what you’re doing when flashing custom ROMs.

The Galaxy Note 4 developer edition is now available for purchase through Samsung’s website.
