If you like the idea of doing so, it is possible that future Resident Evil games could go down that path. This is according to Resident Evil: Revelations 2’s producer Michiteru Okabe who spoke to GameInformer, as transcribed by GameSpot. According to Okabe, “I think it makes sense. Having gone from 2D to 3D, now it’s time to surround yourself in these worlds instead of just having a screen in front of you.”
Okabe adds, “It makes sense for a lot of game genres; I think it makes a special kind of sense for horror games where immersion is more important than perhaps in other genres. I think we should most definitely start thinking about what we could do with that kind of technology in the future. It makes perfect sense.”
It was also revealed in the interview that the mansion from the first Resident Evil game was remade as a VR prototype, and according to Resident Evil HD’s producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, if the game were to be remade again, it would be in VR. Of course this isn’t a confirmation that Capcom is looking at making a VR Resident Evil, but are simply exploring the idea, but what say you?
