The Pono player launched on Kickstarter and if you were wondering when we would finally be able to get our hands on one, it has been revealed that the first batch of shipments will begin next month. About 15,000 Pono players will be sent out to its Kickstarter backers. For those who might have missed the boat, pre-orders are currently being accepted via its website.
According to the product listing, the device is expected for a delivery early 2015 (Jan-March), which means that customers have a bit of waiting ahead of them if they are thinking about getting their hands on the device. The Pono player is an oddly shaped device and will come with 64GB of onboard storage, which honestly stores a lot less files in FLAC compared to MP3.
It will support additional 64GB of storage via a microSD card slot and will come with a 2.5-inch touchscreen display. It will support additional formats aside from FLAC such as Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec, WAV, AAC, and MP3.
