Panasonic ProXStream EX Decoder Delivers 4k60p Images

[CEATEC 2014] Full HD is like child’s play when you take into consideration the next generation of displays as well as the broadcasting technology behind it. The Panasonic ProXStream EX decoder happens to be a single-chip solution for 4K/60p, 10-bit-color-video playback. Whle pricing details have yet to be determined, this particular decoder is tipped to ship later at the end of this year – which is not too far away, actually, considering how we are about to enter the middle of October soon. This particular decoder has the ability to deliver 160 Mbps and up to eight simultaneous HD channels.

If you feel that you do not have the necessary budget in order to handle all 4K videos in your home, fret not – you can just get the ProXStream EX decoder first and prepare for the future, since it will still play nice with a slew of conventional codecs, and among them will include the likes of H.264 and MPEG-2. There will also be a 2K-to-4K upconverter, video playback support without the need for external DDR memory, HDMI 2.0/DisplayPort 1.3 (SST) connectivity, and PCI Express Interface. Seems pretty future proof – at least for a while.
