The Nexus X is an upcoming smartphone from Google and Motorola. It will be the next-generation Nexus and will be the successor to the Nexus 5 if the rumors are to be believed. Now the question is when can we expect the handset to be launched? Well the rumors have pegged it for a potential mid-October launch, and a recent visit to the FCC seems to confirm it.
While the FCC filing does not actually give us a specific date, handsets that usually make their way to the FCC is basically a sign that the phone could be due for a launch in the near future. Given that electronics need to be given their blessing from the FCC before it can be sold in the US, it would indicate that at the very least, we are one step closer to seeing the Nexus X making its debut.
The FCC filing has also shown that the device that stopped by the carrier has support for both AT&T and T-Mobile’s frequencies, which is unsurprising given that the Nexus series of handsets have typically played nicely with GSM-based carriers, however recent rumors have suggested that Verizon could be getting the phone as well.
Unfortunately the specifications of the phone were not revealed in the FCC documentation, but either way we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for a launch, so check back with us in the coming days/week for additional details.
