motorola-droid-turbo_0Just the other day, a leaked press rendering of the Motorola Droid Turbo for Verizon made its way online, but if you were hoping for clearer images, the folks at Android Central have managed to get their hands on additional photos of the device, showing off the front and back portions of the upcoming phone.

As the photos suggest, the handset will be available in a black or red finish, with the red finish looking particularly striking. However apart from the new photos, Android Central has also managed to obtain marketing materials that has potentially revealed some of the hardware specs of the phone, thus confirming what we have previously known.

For starters, the phone will feature a metallized glass fiber build that is said to be scratch resistant. It will also sport a 5.2-inch QHD Gorilla Glass 3 display and is also said to be able to resist “everyday spills and 20 minutes in a downpour”, although we don’t think it would be a good idea to go swimming with it.

The handset is also expected to come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB of RAM, and a whopping 21MP rear-facing camera with 4K video recording and a dual LED flash setup, which is slightly different from the Moto X despite both phones sporting a similar-ish design.

The Droid Turbo will pack a 3,900mAh battery under the hood which will apparently be enough to provide up to 48 hours of use, and will also support Turbo Charging. Android 4.4 KitKat is said to be be preloaded on the device which is a bit of a pity since Android L is pegged for a release soon, so hopefully Droid Turbo users won’t have to wait too long for an update. So, what do you guys make of the Motorola Droid Turbo so far?
