As many Minecraft fans are probably aware of by now, a Minecraft movie is going to be made. This was confirmed earlier this year, although a more recent report has suggested that we could be waiting anywhere between 2-4 years for the movie to be actually realized and screened in the cinemas.
Now previously it was unclear who would be acting, direction, or producing the movie, except for the fact that Warner Bros. were the ones who acquired the rights to make the movie. Well a new report from Deadline has revealed a possible director and producer for the upcoming movie.
According to their report, Night at the Museum’s director Shawn Levy is said to be in talks with Warner Bros. to help develop the movie, and possibly direct it as well, although this has yet to be confirmed. Apparently Levy has been known for his ability to shape concepts into hit films, which might be why he could be the man for the job.
As far as producers are concerned, Roy Lee is said to be the one producing the movie. Lee helped produce highly successful LEGO Movie, so hopefully the Minecraft movie will be able to find success in an industry where video game-based movies seem to turn out to be huge flops.
