We are getting close to the end of this year, but this does not mean that all activity from various companies and organizations are going to stop anytime soon. Well, it seems that Mary Jo Foley has reported on how Microsoft intends to roll out their upcoming Office 16 release some time in the second half of next year. If history were to be the judge, Office 2013 was introduced by Microsoft in October 2012, and so to hear that there will be a major update rolling out in the second half of 2015 would more or less point to an October rollout next year, which is approximately one more year left to go from now.
Apart from that, Microsoft does have a track record of rolling out major updates from time to time, with a window period of every two to three years. General Manager of Office and Office 365 Marketing Julia White was the one who shared about this tentative schedule some time during TechEd.
Apart from that, Microsoft has confirmed as well that the upcoming versions of Exchange Server and SharePoint Server will also roll out some time in the second half of next year. Microsoft claims to have kicked off testing out Office 16 with limited people among the public community, so exciting times are ahead!
