When it was first announced that the Nokia Devices & Services business will eventually end up as part of Microsoft, it was also divulged that Lumia, the smartphone brand, would end up as part of the Microsoft family, too. Well, there has been transitions and changes made from Nokia to Microsoft in various websites, not to mention packaging and other consumer touch points, but Microsoft Lumia is now official.
Tuula Rytilä, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Phones at Microsoft, shared, “This is a very exciting time for us and for Lumia products. You might have seen that in the last couple of months, we have already made some name changes to our apps to better reflect that these apps now come from Microsoft. Our global and local websites are going through a transition as we speak and in the coming days our social channels will get a new name too – they will be called Microsoft Lumia. We would like to invite our Lumia fans to continue to follow us and always be up to speed with the latest device news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.”
Everything looks as though it is on track, and the very first Microsoft Lumia device is tipped to arrive “soon” – with that being the operative keyword which leaves plenty of wiggle room, we still have no concrete idea as to when the exact date will be, but rest assured, Microsoft Lumia is now official and it will be a natural progression to see other future devices sport the same branding without compromising on hardware quality delivery.
