Microsoft Cuts Surface Pro 3 Price By 10% For Students

Companies like Microsoft and Google tend to focus some of their products towards the education sector. Just yesterday the latter announced unlimited cloud storage for students who use Google Drive for Education. Today Microsoft has made its own announcement but it has to more with hardware and less with software. The company confirmed a 10 percent price cut for its Surface Pro 3 tablets aimed squarely at students.

This move is part and parcel of Microsoft’s Surface for Education program which brings special education pricing for the Surface Pro 3 and the Type Cover keyboard bundle. The Surface for Education program has been launched today in U.S., Canada and the UK.

Surface Pro 3 units sold through Microsoft’s authorized device resellers are included in this program, which offers 10 percent discount for qualified educational institutions. Under this program the Surface Pro 3 64GB with Intel i3 processor and a Type Cover will cost $839 as opposed to the market price of $929.

Surface Pro 3 128GB with i5 bundle goes for $1019 instead of $1129. The highest bundle, Surface Pro 3 256GB with Intel i5 will be available for $1289 as opposed to the full $1429 retail price.

There’s a minimum order quantity of five that educational institutions have to meet, and they can check with their local reseller for exact pricing details if they’re interested in helping students acquire the Surface Pro 3 at discounted rates.
