McDonald’s Document Reveals Mobile Payments Support At The Drive Through

mcdonalds-apple-payIn the next few days, we expect that Apple will be officially launching Apple Pay, a feature which they revealed at their iPhone event. Now previous we have seen screenshots on how the feature will be enabled and setup, but now thanks to what appears to be a training document obtained by 9to5Mac, it shows how Apple Pay (or mobile payments in generat) will be accepted at McDonald’s drive through.

Previously it was expected that users would be able to use mobile payments such as Apple Pay at McDonald’s simply be tapping their phones at the terminals, but how will it work at the drive through? After all we’re sure not many of you guys relish the thought of handing your expensive smartphone to the drive through employee who might accidentally drop your phone while handling it.

Thankfully that will not be happening. According to the training document, it seems that the drive through employee will be handing the customer the NFC reader through the window, in which the customer can then reach over and tap the terminal with their smartphone, thus enabling the mobile payment process.

The terminal will beep to signal that the payment has successfully gone through and you should be good to go. So the next time you don’t have cash on you, we guess you will be glad to know that outlets such as McDonald’s will support mobile payments, even via the drive through.
