This was announced by Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing in statement in which he confirmed that the Lenovo had successfully and officially acquired Motorola Mobility. According to Yang, “Today we achieved a historic milestone for Lenovo and for Motorola – and together we are ready to compete, grow and win in the global smartphone market.”
He also adds, “By building a strong number three and a credible challenger to the top two in smartphones, we will give the market something it has needed: choice, competition and a new spark of innovation.”
It is unclear if Lenovo will be letting Motorola continue to operate itself and churn out smartphones, or if the company plans on bringing Motorola into the fold and using their experience and technology to help improve upon Lenovo’s products. However what we do know is that a Motorola tablet will be built, at least according to earlier reports, so that’s something to look forward to.
