That being said, a report from Benzinga has revealed a rather tasty rumor that Lenovo could be thinking about making a bid for BlackBerry as soon as this week. The company is expected to pay anywhere between $15-$18 per share to acquire the company, and while this might seem like an odd rumor, we should note that many had expressed disbelief over Apple’s acquisition of Beats which later turned out to be true.
Then there was also talk by Lenovo’s CFO back in January 2013 where he stated that there was a lot of potential to be had with BlackBerry. BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen had also candidly expressed at one point that he would be willing to sell the company if someone were to make a substantial offer for it.
Now safe to say that this piece of news should be taken with a huge grain of salt for now, but it will be an interesting move by Lenovo. After all they had recently acquired Motorola Mobility from Google, so for them to go after two handset manufacturers is definitely a very aggressive move on their part.
