Well now thanks to a sighting at the FCC (via Android Police), the images and specifications of the Lenovo SW-B100 smartband have been revealed. As you can see in the image above, the Lenovo smartband SW-B100 looks like your typical fitness band and appears to sport a rectangular display and some bright colors.
However based on the documents found at the FCC, it seems that Lenovo will not be turning to Android Wear for their platform of choice. Instead the company seems to be following in Samsung’s footsteps with the Samsung Gear Fit by choosing to go with an alternative operating system instead.
For those who just wants fitness capabilities we guess this isn’t a big deal. However if you were hoping for it to be more than just a fitness band, we guess the lack of Android Wear means that there will be many apps that will remain off limits to you for now. Some of the functions of the band include distance measurement, calorie tracker, a pedometer, a sleep tracker, and will also be able to receive alerts from your phone like calls and incoming text.
There is still no word on when Lenovo plans on launching the device, but given that it was sent to the FCC for inspection and approval, we can only assume that it shouldn’t be too long until we hear an official announcement.
