Well it turns out that the case is pretty huge as it seems that the ITC will be getting involved as well. It has been reported that the ITC had voted (via Re/code) to open an investigation against Samsung to see whether or not the South Korean tech giant had indeed infringed upon NVIDIA’s patents like they had claimed.
Now NVIDIA had filed both a lawsuit against Samsung and filed a complaint with the ITC, and if successful they will be able to get either injunctions against Samsung’s products or even damages if Samsung were to be found guilty of infringing upon NVIDIA’s patents.
According to NVIDIA’s initial complaint, there are a handful of Samsung devices that they claim to have infringed upon their patent. In fact these products are Samsung’s newer products, meaning that if successful, it could severely hamper Samsung’s sales in the US.
The devices in question include the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 smartphones; and the Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note Pro and Galaxy Tab 2 tablets.
