Turn back the clock maybe 10-15 years ago, kids still played with toys like action figures, dolls, puzzles, stuffed animals, and whatnot. However fast forward to today, toys to kids are basically smartphones and tablets and understandably so – after all there are plenty of video games available on these platforms.
This is why it isn’t surprising to learn that when kids were asked what their favorite brand was, they named Apple’s iPad. This is according to a recent study conducted by Smarty Pants, a research firm which surveyed kids aged 6-12 years old and asked them which their favorite brand was.
Interestingly enough it seems that despite how everyone thinks that kids like sweet stuff like Hershey’s chocolates, Oreo cookies, M&Ms, and so on, the iPad reigned supreme. According to Wynne Tyree, the president of Smarty Pants, “iPad’s number one status among kids represents the culmination of the ‘tablet takeover’ – a movement from shared screens and TV network dominance to curated content on personal devices. Kids increasingly turn to iPad for games, TV shows, videos, books, homework help and communicating with friends and family.”
In fact Tyree notes that a few years ago, it was a completely different story as the iPad had originally ranked at 109th place, but like we said, times have since changed and it looks like what kids consider to be fun these days is definitely a huge shift from the good old days of wooden blocks and action figures.
