This is according to The Michael Report in which they claim to have obtained photos and details about the upcoming tablet. They have held off on publishing the images and diagrams, claiming to want to protect their source. Now if their report is to be believed, Apple will be achieving a new level of thinness by removing the mute/rotation lock switch.
Apparently this will shave an additional 0.5mm off the tablet and they will also be introduced recessed volume buttons and also moving the microphones to the back of the tablet. They also claim that the new iPad Air 2 will sport 2GB of RAM, Touch ID, support for Apple Pay, and word has it that Apple will be bumping the rear-facing camera to the 8MP variety.
Apple is also said to be removing the 16GB storage option, instead offering 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB options. Previous reports have not suggested that Apple will be making drastic changes to the design, although many have since corroborated the claims that Touch ID will be introduced to the new tablet.
Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but with the rumors suggesting a 16th of October reveal, be sure to check back with us then for the details if there are any to be had.
