HP’s new PC isn’t something that you would normally find on somebody’s desk. It is a new concept that we heard the company was working on and today it unveiled the product. It is called the HP Sprout and it ditches the traditional keyboard and mouse in favor of a touchpad and a built-in projector. So you can guess that this PC has been developed keeping touch interaction with mind, a completely different way to interact with a PC than what we’re normally used to.
The HP Sprout has a built-in 3D projector as well powered by a four-camera system using Intel RealSense 3D. The projector hangs from the top of the computer and projects applications on the touch mat. It also contains a 14.6 megapixel high resolution camera, an LED desk lamp and a HP DLP projector.
Using the projector one can also scan 3D and 2D objects on to the computer. A stylus can also be used to draw and move applications around on the touch mat. Since it doesn’t come with a conventional keyboard one can be projected on the mat.
The PC itself has a reasonable amount of power. Onboard there is an Intel Core i7 processor, a 23-inch touchscreen display and 1TB of internal memory. HP Sprout will be available starting November 9th for $1899.99. This week the Sprout will be demonstrated at selected Microsoft Stores and Best Buy locations.
