Unfortunately according to reports, it seems that Dropbox has recently sent out emails to some of their users, informing them that there is a problem with the Selective Sync feature. For those who are unfamiliar, Selective Sync is a feature that users can enable that will only sync certain folders in the cloud.
It seems that there is a bug in some of the older versions of the Dropbox app that have deleted the files of users who have enabled Selective Sync. If you’re a Dropbox user with Selective Sync on, perhaps you’ll want to comb through your folders to ensure that everything is still there.
Thankfully it looks like Dropbox has since addressed the issue and are working to restore the files and are also releasing a fixed version of its app. They are also working on putting extra safeguards in place to prevent the issue from happening again. Now for those who were affected by the issue and have received an email from Dropbox, the company will be offering affected users a year’s worth of Dropbox Pro for their trouble.
