This year both new iPhones came with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Apple debuted the sensor last year with the iPhone 5s but at the time it was limited to some of the company’s own apps and third party developers couldn’t tap into it. This was allowed by iOS 8 and many developers flocked to support this feature. Dropbox is one of them. The official Dropbox app for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been updated with Touch ID fingerprint sensor support.

Dropbox has been in the news recently but for entirely different reasons. After alleged username and password batches were dumped online Dropbox scrambled to reassure users that its servers were not breached and that the leak had happened due to third party services. Dropbox also reiterated that users’ stuff was never at risk.

Now that the app has support for Touch ID fingerprint sensor, users can access their cloud storage accounts by simply putting a finger on the home button.

Dropbox for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is one of the few apps that have added this support. Others include the likes of 1Password, Mint, Evernote, Amazon and more.

Dropbox for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store. An update was previously released for this app as well which brought several new features after iOS 8.0 was released.
