According to a recent report from DigiTimes (via 9to5Mac), they claim that the iPhone 6 Plus is accounting for 60% of iPhone 6 shipments, or at least that what their sources are claiming. However if you were to think about it, that does not seem to quite add up. Based on earlier reports, it was revealed that the iPhone 6 is currently the more popular device of the two.
There have been two separate reports, one based on web stats and another from Japan, both of which claim that the iPhone 6 is clearly leading the way in terms of sales versus the iPhone 6 Plus. At this point in time it is unclear if this is a popularity issue or if it could be due to supply constraints.
Now it is possible that DigiTimes’ report makes sense, and that is that Foxconn who is responsible for the production of the device, has been working hard at trying to keep up with the demand for the iPhone 6 Plus, which could explain why more iPhone 6 Plus units are being shipped out at the moment to help fulfil the backlog of orders.
Last we checked, the iPhone 6 Plus is sitting at an estimated shipping time of 3-4 weeks, while the smaller iPhone 6 was pegged at 7-10 days. Given that both phones are a little supply constrained at the moment, it is still a bit too early to tell which model is the popular of the two, but hopefully this will become clearer as shipping times being to normalize.
