When it comes to gaming rigs, gamers tend to focus on the graphics component and tend to go for the best GPU that they can afford. Sound quality is usually an afterthought, or in the case of some gamers, not even considered at all as they are perfectly happy with their motherboard’s onboard sound card and their headphones.
However if you consider yourself to be a gamer and an audiophile, then you might be interested to learn that Creative’s Sound Blaster X7 will be launching this December, although with a price tag of around $400, it is definitely one of the slightly more expensive computer speakers that one can buy today, but we guess that’s the price you’ll have to pay for quality.
Right off the bat, the design of the Sound Blaster X7 is certainly eye-catching. However it’s what’s under the hood that really matters. The speaker pack a 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution 127dB digital-to-analog converter along with a 100W audio amplifier, all of which will be squeezed inside the speaker pictured above.
What makes it interesting is that it will play nicely with a bunch of devices, such as computers and smartphones through USB connectivity, televisions and/or gaming consoles via an optical S/PDIF input, and will also feature Bluetooth and NFC connectivity if you’d rather not plug your smartphone/tablet into it.
Creative will also include apps that will allow users to better control the speakers such as the Sound Blaster X7 Control Panel for computers, and the Sound Blaster Central app for mobile devices. Now while we can’t speak for its audio quality, given Creative’s reputation, we reckon it should be pretty decent, although at $400 it might be an expensive way to find that out.
