Remember earlier this year we wrote about a smartwatch called Blocks? For those unfamiliar, Blocks is a smartwatch that was announced earlier this year. What makes Blocks so much more unique compared to other smartwatches is the fact that it is completely modular. This means that users will be able to swap components in and out to suit their needs.
For example if you’d rather have a circular display, go ahead and put that in. Feel like having a square display today? Sure, why not? Now previously it was suggested that the Blocks smartwatch would use Google’s Android Wear platform, and why not? Android is popular and Google is a reputable company.
However in a recent update to the project, it seems that its creators have decided to go in another direction – Tizen. What this means is that users will be able to use the watch along with their smart device, regardless whether it runs on iOS, Android, or even Windows Phone. This also means that it will face some competition from the likes of the Samsung Gear series which is powered by Tizen as well.
Unfortunately there is still no word on when the Blocks modular smartwatch concept will eventually be made a reality and make its way into the hands of users, but in the meantime you can check out the new concept video of the Blocks smartwatch above.
