Yesterday, we reported that during a talk that BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen gave at the MIT Enterprise Forum in Hong Kong, he revealed that the company would be launching the BlackBerry Classic in December. So apart from the Classic, what else is in the horizon for the Canadian company?
Well BlackBerry fans, how does the idea of tablets and sliders sound to you? During his talk, Chen also confirmed that BlackBerry was actively working on tablets and a slider concept that would allow users to have a large display, but also have a physical keyboard at the same time. A couple of months ago, a patent for said device was spotted.
The patent described how a phone with a large display could hide a physical keyboard through the use of a hinge that would let the keyboard unfold out, extended it and providing a space for users to type on. As far as a tablet is concerned, over the years we have heard that BlackBerry could be planning a successor to the BlackBerry Playbook, although nothing has surfaced.
It is unclear as to when these devices from BlackBerry will launch, but earlier rumors have suggested a certain BlackBerry device codenamed “Visa/Victoria” has been pegged for 2015. We’re not sure if this is a phone or a tablet, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled all the same. In the meantime are you guys excited for a new BlackBerry tablet?
