A lot of high-end smartphones are designed to look good and pack high-end specs under its hood. Most of the time these devices weren’t meant to take a beating, save for the occasional drop or bump. With that being said, how does the BlackBerry Passport hold up? Will it, just like most smartphones, fall apart after a few drops?
Well surprisingly it turns out that the BlackBerry Passport can take a fair amount of abuse. This was demonstrated in a recent video (see above) in which the BlackBerry Passport is dropped at various heights and at various angles to simulate what it would be like if one were to drop it accidentally.
Of course dropping it this many times would result in a few scratches, which did happen. The phone also rebooted itself at one point after being dropped from a particular height, but apart from that, the phone remained fully functional and all of its features were working, like its camera. The most noticeable damage would probably be around the edges.
The last part of the video showed them tossing the phone to one another with the other person failing to catch it, and where we see the phone bounce a couple of times. The Passport was probably not designed to be abused, but it goes to show the build quality of the device, so if you’re the sort that is prone to dropping your phone, you can rest assured knowing that the Passport can take a drop or two.
