BlackBerry Messenger has seen significant growth in its user base ever since BlackBerry decided to take it cross-platform. BBM apps have been available for both iOS and Android for quite some time now, and a couple of months back a beta was also released for Windows Phone users. The BBM for Windows Phone beta has received a new update and with it the company has revealed that the public launch of this app for Windows Phone users is going to take place soon.
As of now BBM has over 91 million users around the world with the majority being on BlackBerry’s own devices. Obviously the company faces competition from the likes of Viber, Line and WhatsApp but it is continuing to hold its own ground against the competition to some extent.
Bringing more users on to the instant messaging service would certainly increase its value. BBM has been functioning as a separate unit ever since it went cross-platform and one of the easiest ways value can be added is by making it available to more potential users, and Windows Phone is the next destination for that.
The company has revealed that it is close to the public launch of BBM for Windows Phone, and the recent update to the beta speeds up the launch time on a fresh install, BB says this update will play its part in improving the experience first time BBM users have when they launch the app for the first time after it has been installed.
