Unfortunately if you were thinking about subscribing to Apple’s Beats Music streaming service and paying for the subscription via your AT&T bill, you will no longer be able to do so. AT&T has recently announced that they would be doing away with that option, meaning that users will have to subscribe to the music service just like everyone else.
It is unclear as to why AT&T has decided to do away with the option. Perhaps Apple’s acquisition of Beats might have something to do with it. After all Apple has no agreements with carriers to allow for carrier billing when it comes to app/service purchases, so perhaps this is a way for Apple to maintain their control.
However the good news is that in a statement released by AT&T, current subscribers will not be affected. “There haven’t been any changes for AT&T customers who currently have the Beats Music family plan or who are within their free trial period. New subscribers can still get Beats Music through their app store or at beatsmusic.com.”
