Back in September, we had heard the rumors that Apple was planning on launching their new iPads on the 21st of October. Given that Apple has now reserved the later part of the year for iPad announcements, this does not seem like a stretch. However the 21st of October date was refuted, but now thanks to a report from Re/code, we have a new date – the 16th of October.

According to the publication, Apple is expected to hold an event on the 16th of October where it will launch the iPad. However unlike the iPhone’s announcement, the iPads’ announcement will be a low-key affair and will most likely be held at the company’s Town Hall Auditorium. It has been rumored that Apple will be taking off the wraps for the iPad Air 2 and the third-generation iPad mini.

Re/code also adds that the event will see Apple announce new iMacs, which according to recent rumors have suggested that it could launch with a whopping 5K display. It is also expected that Apple will announce the release of OS X 10.10 Yosemite. This is hardly a surprise since Yosemite has been seeded to developers in a GM build which usually signals that it is ready for mass rollout.

Apple’s new iPads are rumored to feature Touch ID sensors and could be used to make Apple Pay payments. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but do check back with us in the next couple of weeks for the details.
