During its event last month Apple unveiled a new payments service called Apple Pay. It hasn’t been launched as yet and at the event the company only said that we should expect it to go live in the near future. A leaked memo has surfaced online hinting at the possible Apple Pay launch date, and it could be October 18th, merely two days after Apple’s October 16th event which the company has already confirmed.
The Leaked Walgreens memo was obtained by Macrumors and it clearly states that Apple Pay launch is going to take place on October 18th. Now obviously one can call the authenticity of this memo into question which is why it can’t be taken as solid proof.
If the launch is indeed going to happen on October 18th then the possibility exists that we may get to hear about it from the company during its event on October 16th. At this event Apple is expected to mainly show off the new iPads, release OS X Yosemite and perhaps announce new iMacs as well.
Previous reports have also suggested that Apple Pay might be launched in the middle of October so there’s a real possibility that it might happen on the aforementioned date. Nevertheless we can’t be certain until Apple makes an official announcement.
