While it has more or less been a given that the folks over at Amazon have been making available a slew of third party apps as well as games for its range of Kindle eReaders for a number of years already, it looks as though this is not the case with the relatively new Kindle Voyage. Not too much of a voyage when it comes to your reading adventures, don’t you think so?
With the number of a few hundred games and apps that have been made available for the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Keyboard, and other eReaders that sport an E Ink display, it is rather surprising to learn that none of these third party games as well as apps will be able to run on the brand new Kindle Voyage. Apparently, someone noticed that it was nigh impossible to perform a download of any previously purchased Kindle Active Content apps on the Kindle Voyage, and it seems that the stand from Amazon is this – the Kindle Voyage does not offer third party app support. Period.
This does not mean that Amazon will skip on Active Content totally, as one is still able to perform a download and installation of the likes of Scrabble, Solitaire, BlackJack, NotePad Plus, and others, but perhaps Amazon intends to focus a whole lot more on the Amazon Appstore at the moment.
