The story goes like this – she had ordered a 64GB iPhone 6 from Verizon. Instead of receiving her order, she received what seemed to be a prototype device. She writes in the product’s description, “There are no FCC markings on the rear of the device or a model number. This is the real deal!!! The lightening [sic] port is red which is a sure sign of a prototype.”
The phone is also said to come with its usual accessories as well, like a charger, cable, headphones, and the necessary paperwork. As it stands, the bidding on the handset has shot through the roof and it is standing at a little over $58,000 at this time of writing. With 3 days left to go, we can only assume that the bids will be going even higher as fans and collectors will no doubt want to get their hands on it.
The seller has not mentioned if Apple or Verizon has reached out to her to possibly get her to swap the phone for a consumer version of the device, but given that how much she could potentially fetch for it, we wouldn’t be surprised if she would turn down their offers. Imagine how many iPhone 6 handsets she could buy with that amount of money!
