While Huawei has dabbled and created some pretty impressive smartphones in the past, the company was initially known for their budget and value-for-money offerings, and it looks like they have not forgotten that. The company has recently announced the Huawei Ascend Y550 that will be headed to the UK later this month.
It is not the most powerful Android smartphone at the moment, although the fact that it will be priced under £100 does make it a pretty compelling device, especially for those who might be shopping on a budget. That being said, what can customers expect for their money?
Well for starters customers who are looking forward to the Ascend Y550 can expect to find a 4.5-inch LCD display. It will also be powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm 1.2GHz quad-core processor with a decently sized 2,000mAh battery. There will also be a 5MP rear-facing camera on the back, followed by a 2MP front-facing camera for the selfie-taker in you.
It will also come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled, although no word on whether it will be upgraded to Android L later. The phone will initially be launched on O2 and will also be available via Amazon UK later this month. However other carriers/retailers in the UK like EE, Tesco Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, and Argos will be getting their hands on the device in November.
