There are many cross-platform messaging services but WhatsApp firmly retains the top spot. Owned by Facebook the service processes billions of messages every single day that hundreds of millions of users send back and forth. Mobile apps certainly play a big role in that which is why updates are regularly pushed out to ensure that users have a good experience. The latest update for WhatsApp on iOS adds a couple of new features to the app but not one that many users have their fingers crossed for.

Allow me to put you out of your misery. This update doesn’t bring the WhatsApp voice calling feature that has already been announced. Those who have been waiting for it to drop will have to wait for a bit more it seems.

Version 2.11.9 of WhatsApp for iOS brings the ability to add captions to photos and videos, archive chats and groups, share location by dragging and dropping pins. Users will be able to attach screenshots when they report a problem. New notification tones, wallpapers and auto-download preferences for media are also included in this update.

The ability to share slow-motion videos recorded with the iPhone 5s has been added to the app as well, these videos can be trimmed before they’re shared through WhatsApp. The app is live now and available as a free download from the App Store.
