It seems that Apple has recently approved an app called Vizzywig 4K which will set users back a whopping $999.99. Yes, you read that right, it is a smartphone app that will cost nearly one thousand dollars! Here’s the kicker – not only does it cost a fortune, but it will only play nicely on the iPhone 5s and only if the phone is running on iOS 7.
So what’s the deal with the app? Why would anyone pay nearly a thousand dollars for a single app? Well for starters it is because the app allows users to capture and edit videos in the 4K resolution, which at the moment is not offered by default on any of Apple’s iOS products.
To be more precise, these “videos” are actually a series of photos shot at 24 images a second. However when stitched together, it creates a 4K video and in turn allows users to edit each frame individually. This is also why the app will only support iOS 7 as Burst Mode in iOS 8 only allows for 10 shots per second. We reckon it’s a bit ridiculous to have an app priced so high and we’re pretty sure you’d be better off using that money for a dedicated camera that captures 4K, but if you can justify the price, why not?
