Earlier today at its press event in Berlin Sony unveiled the Xperia Z3 smartphone. This time around the company’s flagship has almost immediately been confirmed for the U.S. market. Some of our readers might remember the confusion about Xperia Z2’s release in the U.S. T-Mobile was quick to confirm that it will be offering the Sony Xperia Z3 this fall. With all of the new devices unveiled today, fall is going to be a good time to go smartphone shopping.
For now only T-Mobile has confirmed that it will be carrying the Xperia Z3. No other carrier has made a similar announcement. T-Mobile has carried a Xperia smartphone exclusively in the past so it won’t come as a surprise if Xperia Z3 is a Magenta exclusive as well. While the carrier has not given a concrete release date, it says the smartphone will be available through its retail stores and the online store this fall.
Formally announced today, the Sony Xperia Z3 has a 5.2-inch 1,920×1,080 TRILUMINOS display with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm under the hood. The processor is paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. There’s a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, 2.2 megapixel front camera, 3,100mAh battery and IP65/68 certification for dustproof and waterproof status.
T-Mobile will reveal pricing of the Xperia Z3 around the time when it becomes available so you will have to wait a bit for that information.
