Super Smash Bros Wii U Can Be Played Via Nintendo 3DS Connection

While the Nintendo Wii U does not normally support remote play with the portable Nintendo 3DS in the same manner as that of the Sony PlayStation 4 and its handheld console, the Sony PlayStation Vita, this does not mean that such a setup is impossible. Apparently, there is a Gamespot report that the upcoming Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will boast of a menu which touts the device to function as a controller whenever one plays on the Wii U version of the game.

Assuming the menu happens to be accurate, not to mention that Nintendo sees it fit to be included in the final version of Super Smash Bros., chances are one will also be able to perform a character progress transfer from the Nintendo 3DS handheld over to the Wii U.

The menu allegedly reads, “Connect to a Wii U – You can exchange custom fighters or use your Nintendo 3DS as a Wii U controller”, which does not leave much wiggling room for any kind of misinterpretation. As with all rumors and speculation, it would be either confirmed or debunked by the time Super Smash Bros. is released on both the Nintendo 3DS on October 3rd.
