If you’re looking for music streaming services, there are plenty to choose from, although Spotify is one of the bigger and more well-known names in the market at the moment. The company as a Premium service which they charge a monthly subscription for, and they also have a free service in which songs are interrupted by ads and there are certain features not available as well.
Previously the ads were only audio ads but it looks like Spotify is really trying to get users to start paying for their Premium service because they have recently announced that their video ads will be kicking off today. The plan for video ads was actually announced earlier this year and was rolled out as a limited trial.
However it seems that things will be entering full swing starting from today and will apply to those using Spotify on their desktops or on their mobile devices. There will be two types of ads being displayed – Video Takeover which allows companies to “own” the ads on the desktop for 15-30 seconds, and there are Sponsored Sessions in which users can opt to watch videos in exchange for 30 minutes of ad-free music listening.
We know that this is probably something that most of you guys might not appreciate as video ads can be intrusive, but if you’d rather not pay for your music, we guess you will just have to bear with it.
