During IFA 2014, Sony announced the QX1 interchangeable mobile lens camera. The concept of the QX1 is the same as its predecessors like the QX10 and QX100, with the main difference being that it will be able to attach E-mount lenses onto it. We have to admit that Sony’s QX-series feels a bit like a novelty, and while that might be true for the QX1’s predecessors, the same cannot be said about the QX1.
According to Amazon’s best seller rankings, it seems that the Sony QX1 has managed to score a number 3 position on the charts. This is actually sitting pretty high and has even managed to beat out Sony’s A7 series of full frame mirrorless cameras, which is actually saying a lot!
It comes in behind the Sony A6000 which is in second place, and also behind the Sony NEX-6, a camera that was launched in 2012 which is currently taking the number one spot. Perhaps this is a sign that the QX1 could turn out to be quite a big hit, although we guess we will have to wait for its official release and reviews to see if the product is worth the hype.
In the meantime what do you guys think? Is the fact that the QX1 supports interchangeable lenses a reason why it could be more popular than its predecessors, or is there another reason as to why so many people are placing their pre-orders for the unit?
