When it comes to Android tablets, we have to admit that Sony has done a pretty good job with their lineup thus far. Their tablets tend to look pretty good in terms of design and usually comes with pretty decent hardware as well. It looks like Sony expects to maintain that with the announcement of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Unlike Sony’s previous tablet offerings, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will sport a slightly smaller display at 8-inches. This combined with its 6.4mm thin body and 270g weight definitely makes it a joy to carry around, which is great for those who are constantly traveling with their tablets.
The tablet will feature a Full HD TRILUMINOS Display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, which is the same chipset found in the recently announced Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact. Just like the phones, the tablet will also come with the PS4 Remote Play feature which will allow users to play their PS4 games on the tablet and use it as a secondary display.
The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will also sport an IP65/68 rating, meaning that it will be able to withstand immersion into water and will also be protected from dust. We don’t suggest you go deep sea diving with it but in the event you do drop your tablet in the pool, you won’t have to worry about it.
The battery of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is a 4,500mAh battery, although Sony is boasting about its Battery Stamina Mode which they claim will extend the life of your battery and will also allow up to 13 hours of video playback. Pricing has yet to be revealed but Sony expects that the tablet will be available for purchase in both LTE and WiFi options this autumn.
