When we talk about solar chargers, most of the time it would be an image of a large scale charger placed on the roof of a house. However, with the Solarade, things might change in the future. The Solarade happens to be an extremely tiny solar charge that works just as fast as though your device is charging from a regular wall outlet. Touted to be the world’s fastest solar charger by the people behind it, it is also the smallest of its kind in its class. Starting off its life as a Kickstarter project earlier this year, the Solarade measures a mere 9″ x 6.5″ x 0.7″, where it tips the scales at 6.5 oz.
Just like how we should not judge a book by its cover, so too, we should not judge a solar charger based on its size. The Solarade will be able to generate clean renewable electricity from the sun in an efficient manner, and it does not come with any battery storage whatsoever for one simple reason – that would enable it to charge compatible mobile devices in a direct manner.
The Solarade will feature specifications that put out 5V, 5W, 1A, and it is touted to be able to fully charge an iPhone in a matter of 2 hours. As for the monocrystalline solar panel that runs on this bad boy, it is rated at 22% efficiency, and is said to be able to deliver “more power per size” compared to other similar solar chargers, “generating true 1000 mAh power.”
