It has been quite some time already, but here is the latest update made to popular VoIP service Skype so that the version number has been bumped up to that of Skype 2.22 for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8. What is the big news concerning this particular update? Well, Skype 2.22 for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8 would offer location sharing in Skype itself for the very first time ever. The next question would naturally be, what good is location sharing for?
For starters, location sharing would allow one to enjoy an even better chat experience while one is on the move. If you are about to meet up with someone whom you have not seen for a long time, or are in an unfamiliar territory accompanied by the lack of directional skills, then this version of Skype comes in handy, since you are able to send your contacts a Bing map of your current location for them to zoom in on you.
All that you need to do is to click the ‘+’ icon in a chat, and choose ‘share location’ to share your location with the rest of the folks whom you are talking to. Of course, there are also other kinds of features that are part of Skype 2.22 for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, but location sharing takes the cake at the moment. [Press Release]
