Earlier this year when Apple announced iOS 8, they confirmed that the software would be getting one of the earlier rumored features which is Shazam integration with Siri. For those hearing about this for the first time, this basically means that users will be able to use Siri to help them identify songs thanks to Shazam being baked into the voice assistant.
Now iOS 8 has been pegged for a release on the 17th of September and we’re sure that this is a feature that some of you guys are looking forward to, but oddly enough it seems that Apple has excluded this feature in the recently released GM build of iOS 8. According to reports, Apple notes that the feature should be back in time for the general release.
What this means is that if you wanted to download the GM build ahead of the software’s release, you will not be getting the feature so you might want to hold off on downloading it just yet. This is odd because the GM build is typically the same build that Apple will release to the public, but perhaps there were some last minute hiccups that caused the feature to be removed temporarily.
Those who had access to iOS 8’s beta claim that the feature was working fine in the later stages of the beta, so unless there was some kind of bug that Apple discovered, it certainly seems like a mystery. In any case hopefully the feature will make it to the final release but we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information anyway.
