Google’s first batch of Android One-powered handsets were announced over in India some time in the middle of this month, where there are three particular models which one is able to choose from – the Karbonn Sparkle V, Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498, and Micromax Canvas A1. Not much of a choice if you are looking for something that is futuristic and will be able to please the crowd in terms of hardware specifications, but then again, Android One intends to capture the low end and entry level markets. Having said that, it looks as though there is a second wave of Android One devices arriving in the Indian market later this December, although nothing has been confirmed just yet.
It is said that in the second wave, there will be a new handset developed by Karbonn. Intex (which happens to be yet another Indian smartphone manufacturer) could also line up its very first Android One handset as early as January next year. As for the other Android One hardware partners, they happen to be big names such as HTC, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Alcatel, and Panasonic, accompanied by the likes of Lava, and Xolo, although no particular timeframe has been revealed just yet as to when smartphones that run on Android One will arrive from their respective stables.
