We reported last week that Verizon will make a new addition to its popular Droid lineup which contains devices manufactured by Motorola exclusively for the country’s largest mobile network. Rapid charging is rumored to be the salient feature of this smartphone which some believe is going to hit the market next month. It may be called the Verizon Droid Turbo when it ultimately launches, we don’t know when that will happen but today we did come across purported pictures of the Verizon Droid Turbo.
The pictures come courtesy of hellomotoHK and they were first published online on Google+. On the face of it the device appears to stick with the conventional Droid design language though its supposedly touting a more rounded body as opposed to the Droid Maxx which was released last year.
In 2013 the new Droid smartphones were announced with the Moto X. This year the new Moto X has been unveiled but there’s still no official mention of a new Droid handset by Motorola. Even Verizon is keeping mum on the subject.
In these purported photos of the Verizon Droid Turbo we also get to see a slightly larger camera with LEDs on both sides and it may even have physical buttons up front. Features accompanying the photos list a 5.2-inch display, front speakers and dual-LED flash. No word on what its packing under the hood.
A launch is expected in October but since there’s no official word as yet from either Motorola or Verizon, best to take all of this with a grain of salt.
