In a nutshell, the Lumix CM1 happens to be an Android-powered smartphone that sports the functionality of a premium camera within. In fact, Panasonic is looking to market the Lumix CM1 as a camera which does have phone functionality, now how about that?
Hardware specifications of the Panasonic Lumix CM1 include a 20MP 1” sensor, an f/2.8 Leica DC lens, a mechanical shutter, and a control ring which allows you to make adjustments to the settings without having to smudge the touchscreen with that finger of yours. As for the smartphone aspect, you get a decent Full HD 4.7” display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a microSDXC memory card slot. There is no word on pricing as at press time, but considering how Panasonic does roll out smartphones in its home market in Japan, there is every possibility that this might just be the hybrid smartphone-camera device that takes off in a big way – if the price is right, of course.
