Nokia HERE Maps For iOS Will Make A Return Soon

Nokia may have sold its iconic devices and services division to Microsoft but there are still certain businesses that it hasn’t let go off, mapping for instance still remains with the Finnish company. Nokia HERE Maps have made quite a name for themselves and they happen to be a popular mapping service on Windows Phone smartphones. Less than a year back the HERE Maps for iOS app was pulled but Nokia has confirmed that there will most certainly be an encore.

Back in December last year Nokia confirmed that it was pulling the HERE Maps app because of the sweeping changes that iOS 7 brought. The company said those changes did nothing but “harm the user experience.” Users on iOS were able to access the mobile version of Nokia’s mapping service but the official app was pulled down from the App Store.

Those iOS users who have missed the service can now rejoice. Nokia SVP Sean Fenback has confirmed to The Wall Street Journal that even though the first launch of HERE Maps on iOS “went horribly wrong,” a new app is currently in the pipeline and will be launched by the end of this year.

Nokia HERE Maps is also making its way to Android courtesy of Samsung, so its reach would truly be cross-platform by the end of 2014. Lets just hope the launch goes smoothly this time around.
